Welcome to National Geographic Expeditions’ Field Notes Blog!

As the official travel program of the National Geographic Society, National Geographic Expeditions brings you to the world’s most fascinating places in the company of our  experts — scientists, photographers, geographers, and writers whose work you’ve learned about in our films and magazines.

At any given moment, our travelers may be found skirting a spectacular ice formation in Antarctica by kayak, strolling along China’s Great Wall, hiking the trails of Yellowstone, or tracking lions in the Serengeti.

What remains vivid when the expedition is over and bags are unpacked are the stories and images, shared again and again so that richness of the experience lingers.   We’ve developed our Field Notes Blog to capture that magic — the thrill of exploration, the beauty of happenstance, the reward of discovery.

You’ll find tales from our trips, updates about our experts and their work, photographs taken by our experts and our travelers, interesting facts and resources about our destinations, and a forum on which to share your own stories and ideas about our trips.  Whether online or on foot, we hope our Field Notes inspire you to explore!
